We have exciting news!! At least it is for us. We just sent our dossier in to be translated!!! Now for those of you who are wondering what that means, I'll tell you. This is a huge step in our adoption process!! The collection of all of our paperwork took us about two months and we are STILL waiting on our USCIS approval from our government. Last wednesday, our social worker told us to gather all of our documents and send them in to be looked over and then sent to translation. The person who translates them into Russian works at a University in Portland. It will take her about 2 weeks to get it done, hopefully during that time our USCIS approval will arrive. When she finishes translation, it will then be sent to New York to the Kazakhstan Consulate. Right now there is not a huge rush of dossiers for him to check over so it should only take about a week or two. After he is done, they will then be sent to Kazakhstan to be registered.
In our best case scenario, it will all be in Kaz by Sept 1. I know that is really pushing it, but it can happen. We'll see.... I'm not counting on it, but I'm still hoping. God can do anything if He wants it done. Who knows, our daughter may not be available yet. :0) Once our dossier is registered in Kaz, we will then have 3-5 months to wait. I am hoping that we can get in and out of Kaz by the end of December. My biggest prayer is that we can all be home together with our baby for Christmas.
Even with all of these hopes and dreams, I have a real peace about what happens. If we don't get to go until January or February, then I will be ok. Trusting God and being fluid is what I am really working on. I can't explain the peace that I have, but I know it is there and that God has given it. I'll trust Him to work out all of the details. Nothing ever really goes as we think it should, but it WILL happen when God SAYS it should!
So you see, sending our dossier to translation really pushes things forward. Once it is in Kaz, there is no turning back, everything moves us that much closer to our little princess!!!
